Drop a Quarter in!

Ok this is going to cost a little money but if you drop your quarter in and lets take a look. Looky there you can see the Brooklyn Bridge so see that was a quarter well spent!

From the Statue of Liberty

The one thing I wanted to do today was make it out to the Statue of Liberty and I don't know how but I did. The cold and wind was just about unbearable but I did it and my plan was to take some other town pictures but it was so cold I just left it to pictures out at the Statue and get back to the hotel and get warm. I will include a couple post today and with them include a picture that I braved the cold to get. I don't really know what the temp was but I am going to guess the wind chill was below 0 and temp would have been in the 20's and this is even with some sun shine. I had planned on going out Sunday but I am not sure that I will leave my room. Between the temps and the fact that it takes me 3 hours to the city and another at least 3 hours to return just not too excited about getting back out in the cold.

Not Much Going On

Well been slow and boring last few days and job couldn't be done yesterday so only worked half day. Come back and just kind of took it easy and not much of anything just a little tired. Today did yesterdays plus today's but there was 4 of us and got done pretty well. Two of the guys that I have been working with took off today to head home. Been here 2 weeks as work goes and it gets pretty tiresome and I still have the 2 weeks to go. I am sure this motel food and everything else will be really getting old and I will really be ready for home in 2 more weeks.
All goes well tomorrow though plan on taking the boat out to the Statue of Liberty tomorrow and take some pictures. Probably won't do much else so will be pretty short day. I can't decide what I am going to do on Sunday yet might just go down to Time Square and mess around and go to the Empire State Building. Well not much going on so for now over and out!
Forgot to mention I don't know what they are called but if you watched Monk show where they were trapped in the bank and there was a guy outside that stood like a statue. Down in the subway today there was a girl all dress up to where I can't even describe and she stood there like a statye. She was incredible and I am sure she makes lots of money because it was something you certainly would have to see her to even believe.

OH Well

Well I did have high hopes for today since I did have the day off and nothing to do I was going to do some photography. First on the agenda was to sleep in a little and then get a good breakfast. This all went well and breakfast was good but then I looked out the window and we had an inch or so of snow. Well I didn't think that was a big deal get some pictures of some fresh snowfall and would work well. The on closer observation it was raining out and fresh snow and then rain this didn't seem to be a good mix. Well there goes all my big plans and plan "B" in order now and what is plan "B" stay in the hotel and do not in any way go out in snow and rain. So that is what I did a very boring day sleeping, watching TV and mess around on the computer and not necessarily in this order through out the day. Back to work day tomorrow so probably not much going on so guess will hope for Saturday.

Start of the Week

Not much going on but working last couple days and using the transportation facilities here and there. Looks like nothing going on for Wednesday so I think I will venture out and get some pictures. Feeling pretty good the last few days the cold is still there but not nearly as bad as it was. Think I will put plenty of cloths on when out shooting pictures as I think I will go see the Statue of Liberty and will probably be rather cool on that island. No since keeping you reading with nothing happening so will try to make little more interesting the next couple days.

Slow Sunday

Not much going on today taking it easy trying to get my cold better before the start of the new week. Don't know that it really helped staying in but we will see. Other than messing around on the computer and doing my time sheet and expenses really didn't do to much. I did get in a nap this afternoon which was pretty important. Trying to think if there is anything else I can even say about today....well I can say that I think New York people do get a bad rap as being unfriendly because I have not found that at all. They do keep to thereselves's but if you talk to them they are very friendly and find them very polite. I know you are saying I must be crazy or I have been here to long already but they are very nice. Well since not much else going on guess will go for today.

Uneventful Day

Today not much going on except working and that was enough. Working right at Time Square and a pretty busy place on a Saturday. We had 2 atm's to do and went pretty well small place to work so took a little longer but not bad. The other guys they sent to do one hadn't been trained so had to help them with the one they had and that was ok. Got out about 3 or a little after but taking my route home to the hotel I didn't get there till 6. I think the travel to work and back is rougher than the work but guess part of being here. Still I have no idea why anyone would really want to live here but guess someone has to so good these people like it. The photo I am including today is another building and like it because of the square windows and the look of them. I don't know what this building is but liked it.

My cold is still there and maybe a little better but really cold out today and walking in the cold I am sure didn't help anything. Off tomorrow being Sunday and haven't decided what I am going to do would like to go take some pictures but might just stay in and give my cold a break.

Kind of interesting being at Time Square saw where the do the morning show and some of the other sites and of coarse see the Empire State building most times I am in this area. I don't know if I mentioned it but when dark it is lite as you know and really has a neat look about it. All goes well maybe photograph it sometime.

Today was my day off as you might remember and waking up feeling prettin lousy I still decided I would head to the city and try to take some pictures. I took a train or kind of a subway from Newark Penn Station directly downtown to World Trade Center. The picture included today is of the WTC juting up toward the sky and this was the first picture I took today and it has a small story behind it. Suggestion if you some to New York and come down to the WTC before you take your camera you might want to just have a small conversation with the NYCP as if you don't they will have one with you when your camera comes out. Not a big deal I fully understand and I had a really nice chat with the young NYCP officer that come and talked to me. He was very nice and we ended up talking mostly about photography and particulary about the lense I was using and some other general stuff. Once he figured I was just a run of the mill guy working out of town I could shoot all the picture I want. So this is the reason I chose to show the first picture I took after having my conversation with the NYCP. I wondered around pretty much all over and realizing you are in the part of the world right at this moment that pretty much makes the world turn. Seeing the World Mercantile building the Stock Exchange and the numerous other buildings just in this area that makes the world run. Speaking of running the world you should see the size of the Topps Baseball cards building.....

Seeing where the Twin Towers were at one time it actually makes it hard to believe that alot of other building weren't destroy they are so close together. Like right beside the World Trade Center this building in the picture.

By the way so you will know I truly am in New York there will be a picture of the Statue Of Liberty coming soon.

I would like to also add I feel like the trip to the city was really worth while I found a drug store and talked with the nice pharmacist and bout what he suggested to try to get rid of this cold or make it tolerable. OK till later

Today January 22

Today wasn't that great of a day getting back from work about 11:15 and having a late dinner and getting to bed about 12:30 and then getting up at %:00am didn't really help. Then this cold I have and my runny nose is just about to get me down. Anyway up at %:00am met my bus here ay the hotel at 6:00 so no breakfast, next bus at 6:25 or so had to wait a few for it. Get to the train station and on the train just before 7. Few minute rest on the train and then off to the subway station. Sometimes I think it would just be better to walk up out in the cold on the streets. Today I bet I walked 3 miles in the below the ground from sub station to sub station. Walked and caught the A uptown but it was being delayed 15 minutes so now about 100 of us start off to get over to the other side of the tracks to catch the C uptown which will stop where I want at Time Square. Make it to Time Square and now a really long walk to catch the subway shuttle to Grand Central Station and didn't think I would ever make this walk. Finally at GCS and off to catch the 6 downtown subway which will take me to the corner where my job site is. I make it about right at 8 so there is my first 2 hours of my work day.
Feeling really lousy from my cold it seemed like a really long and lots of walking for my return trip back to the hotel. I made it and to the bed for a couple hour nap and now writing this and will order supper in and off to bed again.
Have tomorrow off and really want to got site seeing and doing some photography but going to be rough the way I feel. Hope to make it anyway but probably would be smart to stay in a try to take care of this cold. OH well back to work Saturday so would get that much rest anyway.
Off to dinner or to order it up.....

Heading for Work

Won't have much to update for today's post getting ready to go to work at 5 so will be back late. Back late and up early to catch my buses, train and subways to work early tomorrow. Will be a rough night hopefully will get back at a decent hour and get some sleep. Still have my cold and it is still cold outside and maybe get some pictures today but only if the camera I am taking with me can get some quick repairs when I stop by the repair shop on the way to work. Try to catch up on tonight's adventures and tomorrows later so this is it for Den's Corner today.

Welcome

Welcome to the first blog from Dens Corner where you find worthless information that is well just worthless. Maybe I am stretching that a bit because do stop back often as I will cover lots of things!
First part of business is to tell about my ventures in New York City as I work in the freezing cold and the snow. OK now you know the weather for the most part and I will be short today and maybe try to add more day by day. Right now I would like to go to bed and take care of the cold I caught within the first day in New York.
For the most part right now just working and before and after riding allot of buses, just one train and then plenty of subways not necessarily in the order. To make it short and something to end on tonight just be happy you are not here!
