Sunday and raining and little cool

Well did go into the city and pick up the film I stopped off yesterday. Some pretty good shots in them but not sure about some I took yesterday and I am hoping the are OK. I will get them sent home for Elena to check out and scan them for me and then I can post them here and on Flickr. Like I said it is rather cool and rainy day not hard just enough to make for a lousy day. So I looked though some photos and found one of Elena I will post. You might have already seen it if you look through the Flickr pics but anyway posting here today. This was taken down at Wall Street and I am sure you can recognize who is with Elena. This picture taken with my TLR Rolleicord III medium format film camera and scanned by Elena. Don't forget you can click on the picture to enlarge it.

Into the City for first time in a few weeks

Well seems like a long time since I have been to Manhattan and probably has been 2 or 3 weeks. I worked today but was able to go the city later in the afternoon and finally got to stop off 11 rolls of film. Then walked around a bit in the Flatiron district and the park and shot 3 rolls of film so dropped those off before I headed home. I will have to say that New York City really didn't have much of a summer and never got all that hot. Today you feel fall in the air it was really a little chilly out and I even had a little coat on and I never wear a coat. It will probably be a early winter and snow a lot before I make it home but in some ways would like to see some snow and maybe be able to photograph some winter. Well that might or might not happen and I am sure it is much better when I include some pictures but today I didn't take the time to find a picture. Maybe tomorrow.......

Brooklyn Bridge and Sailboat

Getting ready for work this morning and had a few minutes as I don't have to be at work till 10 so putting some pictures on Flickr. The pictures I was adding are photos that were taken some time back but Elena has them at home and scanned and sent them to me to add to Flickr. This particular one I really like of a sailboat passing under the Brooklyn Bridge. It is a medium format 6x6 shot taken with the Bronica SQA not really sure what lens I used for this but very possible the 200mm. It has been cropped from the original 6x6 to add to the balance of the photo. Added some more to Flickr so click on the link on the side and stop over there.

Seeing more of Long Island

I went out to the north eastern end of Long Island on Saturday and this is where some of the vineyards are. There are probably more in this area than any other part of Long Island. Being at the most eastern part you will need a lighthouse and there is one there. It is located out a little from the rock area to keep boats of the rocks. From here you can see many islands and Connecticut. There are ferry ships that will take you there and thought about going but thought would take to much time. I have posted a couple pictures one of the vineyards and one of the lighthouse which isn't all that great but was the closest I could get. I used the Bronica for black and white film pictures using the 200mm lens and in hopes that the lighthouse will turn out well on film. I don't know why I didn't take more digital pictures of the lighthouse but did take more film.

Lighthouse on Fire Island

Well had a little time to see a few sites here on Long Island even with working lots of hours. I was able to make it down to Fire Island to visit the Lighthouse that is there. The Rolleicord was used for some black and white film shots and hope to get them to Manhattan and get them developed maybe next weekend. Since won't be working in Manhattan for awhile so will take some time to get them developed. Looking forward to seeing how they turned out and will get them off to Elena to get some scans. Well here is one shot of the Fire Island Lighthouse maybe have some time to get some more on sometime soon. I have been adding some photos to the Flickr site so click over there and check them out.

Busy on Long Island

Been pretty busy week out here on Long Island but staying out here really helps. Would be almost 2 hours or more to drive to the jobs from where I was staying but here from 15 minutes to 45 minutes so much better than the 2 hours plus. Have had a little time and still adding pictures to the Flickr site from some film pictures Elena is scanning and then sending me so I can put them up. Today will put a film shot on of Elena when she was here in August. This is taken with the old Rolleicord III and was using Kodak TMax 100.

Visiting The End Montauk Point

Well I went back to the lighthouse on Sunday and walked around. There were lots of fisherman and boaters out for the stripper run. The guys that fish from shore really have it rough. They have to walk over and around big rocks and very little sand to walk on. It would be really easy to twist an ankle or knee but they carry all there gear to there place to fish. Today I will post another lighthouse picture and a little guy along the beach. I will be posting more on the Flickr site and just click on it to visit there. Been adding some film pictures which I am behind in doing but maybe I can get some more of those on the next few days. These were mostly taken with the Rolleicord and the Bronica. Some of the color pictures were taken on slide film. Will try to keep up some more and post some more picture

The Montauk point Lighthouse

If you drive as far as you can drive on the southern route on 27 you will run right into the lighthouse. This lighthouse first one built in New York and constructed in 1796 ordered built by the 1st President George Washington. This is the end of the road as you have now reached the Atlantic Ocean. This spot on the Atlantic has a long history from the Indians to the Revolution war when the British held this spot. I was able to take a few pictures and there were lots of boats and shore fisherman. I read a book a few years ago about fishing up in this area and I am going to guess the strippers are running and that is what they are fishing for. This is a very nice and great place for some photography and will share a few of the pictures over the next few days.

The guys fishing wear metal cleats on there shoes for this rock fishing. Then you have the ones wading and I am sure that is a little cold and even with there waders.
